The answer to this common question is not always simple! Below we explain some of the differences between the two heating systems...
Electric infrared heating will often provide the higher heat output. Ultimately they offer a more cost-effective heating option when you compare to gas. The use of infrared directional waves warm only persons or objects directly, and not the air around. Thus ensuring energy is not wasted heat floating off into the air. In comparison, infrared heaters are hotter and will heat a larger area when compared to their gas counterparts.
With metal casings and industrial robustness, infrared heaters are perhaps less aesthetic. But whilst not matching the look of gas patio heaters the electric infrared heaters can look lovely!
Gas patio heaters are renowned for their beautiful aesthetics and the comforting warmth. They are convenient as they do not require an outdoor electrical source. What’s not to love about staring into a beautiful flicking flame?
A gas heater is probably more limited heat wise, when compared to the electric infrared heaters. The spiralling flames of our gas units create an atmosphere and relaxed ambience. They continue to be an immensely popular alternative to electric infrared heaters.
Most Shadow infrared heaters 3kW or under, will be provided with a 13-amp 3 pin plug. This allows for quick and easy installation in most places. They are easy to instal without the requirement for additional electrician fees. Assuming there is a suitable existing dedicated 13-amp socket is available.
If you do not have an existing socket you will require an electrician. An electrician will investigate whether you can have multiple heating units installed. This is important for both commercial or domestic settings. They will recommend how the supply can be best utilised. We will then recommend the best type of heater installation you need.
You do not need an outdoor wall space, if there is not one available. Don't worry, our wonderful customers have achieved amazing heat coverage. They utilise lots of different outdoor structures to mount the heaters. The Shadow infrared heaters are easily fixed. They are supplied with an incredibly efficient L shape mounting brackets.
