In the UK - we adore our outdoor spaces – and when those long summer nights come around, we’re eager to unfold the outdoor furniture and call the family over for a barbecue of epic proportions. That is until the sun goes down, causing us to scurry indoors while all too often the temperature plummets.
At Heat Outdoors, we know this is an all-too-common occurrence – that's what we set out to change. We don’t think you should have to avoid your garden paradise when the temparature becomes cooler, which is why we offer one of the largest selections of outdoor heaters in the UK.
Our garden heaters, electric patio heaters and gas patio heaters keep your entertaining areas warm and comfortable during the day and all evening long, enabling you to enjoy the glory of the great outdoors for longer.
What to look for in gas garden heaters
Although you can use electric and infrared heaters in the garden, a popular (and versatile) option is the gas garden heater.
We know a good quality piece of kit when we see it – and we only stock the best quality outdoor heater models on our website. That means you won’t waste time shopping around.
So, how do we discern the hot shots from the absolutely-nots?
Straight to the top
One of the most important – yet most often overlooked – parts of a gas garden patio heater (and, come to think of it, gas patio heaters in general) is the hood. It plays a vital role in distributing heat and protecting the internal components of your appliance.
Taking inspiration from traditional English street lighting, our 15kW LONDON gas lamp has a hexagonal, lantern-style hood which throws heat in six different directions. Not only is the hood’s shape elegant, it comforts a large crowd by ensuring a generous and even level of heat distribution.
Thanks to its sturdy shape, the LONDON’s hood is robust enough to withstand potential knocks and dents it may sustain from falling tree branches, roof tiles and garden equipment – essentially anything that the wind blows over.
Made from corrosion-resistant aluminium, the hood forms a protective canopy over the heater, meaning it can be left outside without rusting. All Heat Outdoors hoods are made from solid aluminium to ensure they stand the test of time.
Up in the grille
The grille surrounds the gas burner, where all the heat is generated – so it’s in constant contact with open flames while your garden heater is in use. Grilles must therefore be made from metal that is fairly thick and sturdy.
Cheaper, low-quality heaters are often made from unsuitable metals that can quickly rust and develop holes. Not only does this look unsightly, it’s also a safety hazard.
For this reason, Heat Outdoors carefully test the grilles on all our outdoor appliances, ensuring that they’re made from high-quality materials that can’t bend or dent easily.
Made of stronger stuff
Quality materials and solid structures are crucial to building safe, fit-for-purpose outdoor garden heaters.
As with our commercial-grade Sherpa lantern, the pole and base of your heater should be made of high-grade stainless steel. This protects it from corrosion and enables it to withstand any knocks that an outdoor environment might deal out.
We believe in quality workmanship, and we want you to enjoy your heater for as long as possible. To that end, we never stock cheaper, lower quality models or ‘chrome plated’ garden heaters that can deteriorate quickly.
Time to burn
Although you can’t usually see them, both the burner mechanism and controls are vital aspects of your patio heater. Without them you’d have a large patio ornament but not much heat!
The only way to trust these components are well built (and made to last) is to purchase your heater from a reputable manufacturer.
With an established reputation for high-spec outdoor heating solutions, Heat Outdoors only build and stock technology fitted with long-lasting and robust mechanisms.
Selling brands such as Tansun, Solmagic and Chillchaser (to name but a few), we also offer our very own high-tech and ever-popular Shadow heaters – some of the most innovative available on the market.
What to look for in electric garden heaters
Our diverse selection of electric heaters includes a number of floor and wall-mounted heating solutions that are perfect for use in the garden.
Looking for ‘the one’ isn’t as daunting as you might think – it all comes down to how you like using your outdoor space.
Under my umbrella
Are clouds casting a chilly shadow over your barbecue? A parasol patio heater provides gentle, consistent heat to make your al fresco dining experience more comfortable and enjoyable.
The 5.6kW Solamagic parasol heater features a powerful yet balanced heat distribution thanks to its parabolic heat lamp reflectors and low-glare heat lamp technology. Beaming a gentle, ambient heat, it won’t make you sweat.
Parasol electric heaters give you the satisfying feeling of eating inside, outside.
Good time gazebos
Do you enjoy using your garden or patio for special events? A fixed or wall-mounted electric heater may not be suitable.
Designed to provide comfort after dark, our 6kW Pendant gazebo patio heater is designed to be hung in temporary structures such as gazebos and marquees. With an integrated LED spotlight, it also doubles as an elegant light fixture.
Prevent the evening chill from cutting short your family barbecues and outdoor parties with an electric gazebo heater – simply hang them up, plug them in and bask in beautiful warmth late into the evening.
They’re a great way to extend your enjoyment of the great outdoors at any time of the year.
Just beat it
If parties are your thing, livening up the garden with some music can be a great way to entertain your guests.
Our Heat and Beat 2kW heater with bluetooth speakers is easy to control through the Heat Outdoors app on your phone or tablet – not only will it keep everyone delightfully warm, it doubles as a fully-functioning entertainment system!
With crystal-clear bluetooth stereo speakers and a colourful LED backlighting system to electrify your social scene, this infrared patio heater is for hosts that like to go all the way.
Fitted with long-lasting, low-glare heat lamps – the Heat and Beat also provides up to 7,000 hours of comfort, making it incredibly economical choice.
Choosing a garden heater for your home
Any of our models are suitable for home use, so they’re sure to keep you cosy no matter what.
When shopping for your home patio heater, the main considerations are finding a model that reflects the architecture of your home, your garden and your personal style.
Beauty and the heat
The jaw-dropping Curve gas patio heater has all the elegance of a designer living room floor lamp. Bringing the indoors outdoors, this heater introduces a distinctive talking point in any garden.
Rather than appearing ‘industrial’, the Curve offers a angular aesthetic that makes it country or urban chic for all gardens and outdoor spaces.
This heater is perfectly suited to outdoor dining or barbecue areas as well as highly sophisticated restaurant and commercial outdoors areas.
Choosing a gas patio heater for your business
A gas patio heater is a real must for any business with an outdoor space.
Keeping your customers happy and warm will encourage them to stay for longer. That means more business throughout the evening, and a more lively atmosphere to help draw a bigger crowd.
Heavy duty heat
Ideally adapted to commercial environments (although it can be used at home too), our 15kW Sherpa ‘lamp-style’ heaters have a thicker pole and heavier, wider base than our 13kW version. These enable them to sit on slightly uneven ground without falling or blowing over.
Offering an even more generous heat-range than its little brother, the 15kW Sherpa can heat larger areas and provide comfort to larger crowds at once. Perhaps that’s why they’re a common feature in busy pub gardens and outdoor smoking areas across the UK.
Light my fire
Beautiful – ethereal, even – the Athena’s flickering flames are great for creating a classy, intimate atmosphere in eating establishments and high-end night spots.
As well as being a real head-turner, the Athena Plus+ is incredibly robust and long-lasting. Made from commercial grade 304 stainless steel – which is heavily resistant to moisture, salt and other sources of corrosion – it’s ideal for outdoor dining areas where spillages often occur.
Economical enough to use all evening, the Athena provides approximately 16 hours of non-stop heat from a 13kg gas canister when left on its maximum setting.
