Heaters that are mounted within a parasol have less need to be
fully waterproof, however, dependant upon the circumstances and
their setting, might be subjected to morning dew or winter
frosts and for this reason IP rated weatherproof parasol
heating solutions have become significantly more popular.
Wall mounted electric patio heaters almost always need to have
an IP rating of IPX4 or above and you will find many options
available with more and more coming onto the market over the
coming weeks. Tansun will soon be launching the new IP65 Rio,
which will be an excellent low cost 2.0kW heater to add to
their 3.0kW Bermuda – the most powerful fully waterproof
electric patio heater available. Burda produce the very
popular and sexy 2kW aluminum Term 2000 that is IP65 rated and
the 1.5 kW Helios Top represents fantastic value for money in
a very slim and unobtrusive design.
Free standing patio heaters, with the exception of the stylish
Burda Tower Palms, all have their own metal canopies to protect
them from the rain and therefore the infrared heaters contained
within do not always need to be IP rated.
